Rooms Alpe Veglia is located in the historic hamlet of Colla in Varzo, in the Ossola Valley. It has been created from a traditional rustic mountain house, featuring fully renovated wooden interiors, and offers 4 spacious and comfortable rooms with private facilities, as well as the possibility of adding a third bed or a baby cot. Our added value is the ability to guarantee guests a stay focused on peace and total relaxation, hallmarks of these still unspoiled places. Here, time seems to stand still, allowing you to rediscover the pleasure of everyday simplicity. Peace and relaxation… but not only that! For lovers of good food, there are three restaurants (Ca’del Vino, Il Negozio Wine Restaurant, and Demi Pizza) within walking distance, as well as many other opportunities to enjoy local dishes and products in nearby Preglia and Domodossola. For a refreshing break or an ice cream, we also recommend Evergreen Bar, just 100 meters away in the village center.

reach us
By plane
From Milan Malpensa Airport, a shuttle service connects Malpensa directly to Domodossola (booking required through Comazzi agency: +39 0324 240333).
From Milan Linate Airport or Orio al Serio International Airport, a shuttle bus service takes you to Milan Central Station, where you can catch a train to Domodossola.
From Domodossola: regular buses to Varzo depart every hour. From the bus stop, Rooms Alpe Veglia can easily be reached on foot.
By car
From Milan: take the A26 motorway towards Laghi, then follow the signs for Gravellona Toce and Simplon Pass. Once you reach the “Varzo” exit, follow the signs to the town center and then to the Colla hamlet (near the main church of the village).
From Milan: take the Voltri–Simplon motorway, exit at Varzo, then follow the signs to the town center and to the Colla hamlet (near the main church of the village).

Our area offers countless opportunities both for sports enthusiasts — such as skiing, hiking, climbing, and mountain biking — and for those looking for a holiday focused on relaxation, peace, and wellbeing. The strategic location of our property makes it easy to reach many destinations of sporting, naturalistic, and cultural interest.
Rooms Alpe Veglia is located exactly at the final stage of the Gran Via del Devero hiking route. After an overnight stay, guests can comfortably return the next day to the starting point in Domodossola by train (see BLS schedules at BLS Official Website https://www.bls.ch/it) or by bus (Comazzi Trasporti: Comazzi Bus Timetables https://www.comazzibus.com/linee_orari.php) departing from Varzo station.
For Sports Lovers: we are located just 10 km from the Alpe Veglia Natural Park, famous for its spectacular hiking trails, and from the ski facilities of San Domenico Ski. In San Domenico, a brand-new state-of-the-art gondola lift was recently inaugurated, allowing access in summer to breathtaking routes such as the Devero–Veglia crossing and the Cistella–Foppiano crossing. We are also only 5 minutes from the shuttle train departure to Switzerland, with its beautiful ski resorts including Zermatt Ski Resort, Saas-Fee, and Crans-Montana. Just a few kilometers away is the Gabi Via Ferrata, described by the famous guide Claudio Schrans of Macugnaga as the most beautiful via ferrata in the Alps. Finally, the mountains of the Divedro Valley are part of the Grande Traversata delle Alpi (GTA), a long-distance trail stretching from the Ossola mountains to the Ligurian Alps, created to promote the lesser-known areas of the Italian Alps.
For Everyone: we are just over 15 km from the renowned Premia Thermal Baths, the Simplon Pass, Alpe Devero, the spectacular Toce Waterfall in Val Formazza, and the Sanctuary of Re in Val Vigezzo — also known as the “Valley of Painters”. We are also just a few kilometers from Domodossola, a historic and cultural center famous for Antonio Rosmini, the Sacro Monte Calvario di Domodossola (now a natural park), and its large Saturday morning market.
Services for cyclists
Varzo is an excellent starting point for unforgettable excursions, both by mountain bike and road bike. For mountain bike enthusiasts, we especially recommend the routes through Alpe Veglia and Alpe Solcio, featuring long stretches of dirt trails that cross remote alpine pastures and breathtaking landscapes. For those who prefer road cycling but still enjoy challenging climbs, we suggest the ascent to the Simplon Pass — a wide, fully paved route climbing from 600 to 2,000 meters above sea level — as well as the ascent through Val Formazza, ending with the spectacular view of the Toce Waterfall. From there, off-road cycling enthusiasts can continue with high-altitude excursions along the trail leading to the Alpe Bettelmatt, where the famous Bettelmatt cheese is produced, or towards the Maria Luisa Refuge and the San Giacomo Pass. We also provide all our guests with a free bike maintenance area equipped with an air compressor for inflating tires, a water pump for cleaning bicycles and a set of small tools for any repair needs.
